South India’s luxury train – the Golden Chariot operated by Indian Railways and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation is nominated as Asia’s Leading Luxury Train at the 19th World Luxury Travel Award 2012. This is the third consecutive years when the train has been nominated in this category. The train was also nominated in 2010 and 2011 in the category of Asia’s Leading Luxury Train.

The Golden Chariot train offers two weeklong journeys – Pride of the South and Splendor of the South across South Indian land. Destinations include Bangalore, Chennai, Pondicherry, Tanjavur, Hampi – Badami along with Goa. This Indian luxury train is equipped with luxurious amenities like two restaurants, a lounge bar, conference car, gym and spa facility. The Golden Chariot also happens to be the first Indian train with Wi-Fi connectivity and live television in the cabin.

In addition to the Golden Chariot, other nominations from India include two time winners the Indian Maharaja, the Deccan Odyssey and Palace on Wheels.
